When to visit

December – February

Peak season. Cool, dry weather ideal for beaches in the south, exploring Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and cultural sites. Good for: Comfortable travel, sightseeing, and festivals like Chiang Mai’s Flower Festival.

March - May

Hot season. Temperatures rise, especially inland, but it’s a good time for northern mountains and island escapes. Good for: Quiet sightseeing in cultural centres and off-the-beaten-path northern treks.

June – October

Rainy season. Expect afternoon showers, especially on the west coast; the landscape is lush and rivers full. Turtle nesting at south-east beaches peaks, and wildlife viewing in national parks can be rewarding. Good for: Lower prices, fewer tourists, and combining rainforests with coastal stays.

November

Transition month. Cooling temperatures, less rain on the west coast, early dry season in the north.

Good for: Flexible itineraries, combining wildlife, trekking, and island stays before peak season crowds arrive.
